Types of waxing Waxing is a popular and quick, semi-permanent way to remove unwanted hair. Crystal Skin Care offers two types of waxing services, soft waxing, and hard waxing. Soft waxing uses a 3-step process. To start, a warm, thin layer of soft wax is applied directly to the desired treatment area of the skin. Then a strip of special fabric is placed over the wax which adheres to the wax. Finally, the fabric strip is pulled off to remove the wax and the hair. Hard waxing involves applying warm wax directly to the desired treatment area. The hard wax binds directly to the hair and not the skin. No fabric strips are required for hard waxing because as the hard wax cools down it hardens. Once hardened, the wax can be loosened on one end and then pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.
